I would be amiss if I didn’t mention how nice it is to have a shower that you don’t have to soap the walls first and spin. Okay I borrowed that from comedian Gary Delena. I actually cleaned my armpits instead of washing under some chicken wings. Now that one is mine! Bawk, bawk!
Our first stop was the Canadian Post Office. Super nice postal worker who spoke some English. She was helpful in describing the new customs regulations imposed by the United States. It says clearly 50% tariffs added to anything entering from Canada. We had to list every single item in the box. Wow who knew my underwear would ………………………..…………………..redacted……………..!! Anyway we paid the ransom……….redacted…………may by the Grace of God for our package to make it home. If it is refused, our box will return to this Post Office in Quebec City and fall into the abyss. I will miss my belongings and forever blame……………redacted…………….for stuffed animals, and some fruit of the loom.

We drove to Old Town Quebec City and found a great parking spot uptown. Just one block from the start of today’s journey. We loved using all the roundabouts and the simplicity of drivers cooperating smoothly. Paying to park in Quebec even with our language barrier. Symbols and pictures help you along.

We went into the Parliament Building through thorough security checks. Sorry no pictures allowed of some areas. However after no calls from Heather for security to give me the probe we were vetted and issued security tags and granted entry. We just tried on a whim to tour and the granting authority she let us in without reservations. Anyway, away we went. We checked our jackets and gave ourselves the self guided tour. Wow! We enjoyed the displays and articles along with many works of art Many letters written by past American Presidents on display. The busts of many influential people of times gone by. We spent time in the Historical Library, and the young leaders area. We found that we were starving and the Parliament Dining Room was open.

What a great lunch. We can say that we had lunch where the elected leaders of The Province of Quebec have eaten. There was so much to see and we kept moving.

The grounds are covered with beautiful plants, flowers, and vegetables. Heather spoke to one of the gardeners and told her what a wonderful job she was doing and how much it adds to our visit.

The statues and the Citadel are amazing. We walked up and down and mile after mile I was getting tired. Heather was always there, even when I wasn’t sure if another climb was possible. The view made it worth the effort.

We made it through the Park and all the way to the 26th floor to a revolving restaurant. We had drinks at the “Ciel.” Heather had an espresso martini and I had a mocktail margarita cause I would be driving. We could see our ship the Sapphire Princess hadn’t left port yet.

The last picture is Heather holding hands with the ladies standing for equality! She was smiling with an open heart ♥️ and proud to be with her sisters.
Next stop was The Chutes Montmorency. The waterfall was loud and flowing fast. You could hear its roar from where we parked the car. We started at the most challenging walk and climb for us. So we could finish with the easier walk.

Next we made a pit stop for the salle de banis and gift shop. Merci beaucoup! Then we got back to the car and drove to the bottom of the falls. We showed we paid at the top and were let in to park. A short easy walk and a few minutes of video recording a small deer eating crabapples by the walkway.

Our last stop on the way back to our hotel was dinner. We felt some Thai food sounded good and googled by ratings and location. We found Thaïzone to fit the bill and believe us! It didn’t disappoint. Ohh so good! The woman at the counter didn’t speak English and their menu was confusing. A young man came up to help and spoke broken English. We did manage to place our order. Both wondering what to expect. It was great and we chowed down. Heather the orange chicken with rice and I had the chicken pad Thai. Spring rolls with duck sauce and a Diet Pepsi.

Here’s a few more great day photos.

Today’s shout out is to all of you who have taken years of French in the hopes of going to a French speaking place and being able to communicate…..please do so before 30 years later when you have never used French even once. I have forgotten more than I remember and butchered almost everything, but my dream of going somewhere I could speak French has come true. Lol. Je pue parler Français! (I stink at speaking French!)
An avid Canadian hockey fan had won a great seat at a Stanley Cup finals game. He noticed the entire stadium was full except the seat next to his. The seat sat empty for the first and second periods. He finally asked the man seated on the other side of the empty seat. “How can anyone miss a playoff game like this?” Well that seat belonged to my late wife. Ohh I’m so sorry for your loss. Why didn’t you give her seat to your friends or family? They wouldn’t be able to make it. They’re all at her funeral…just saying!
