Michael and Heather Reed live in Amarillo. Well we own a house in Amarillo. Heather is a Community Regional minister for the CCSW and Mike travels with her to make sure she knows where she is going and takes care of her, because otherwise she would be lost. Heather has been serving this region since 2018, with Mike retiring in 2021, and is taking a sabbatical now after serving full time since 2021. They have been planning their adventures forever and are excited to relax, rejuvenate and recharge for the future with the Christian Church in the Southwest.

It’s Sunday morning here in Sault Ste Marie and it is time to be driving onward. We have a long drive day planned heading to Thunder Bay Canada. It’s 8 hours driving. We ate breakfast at the hotel. I went to the washroom before our drive. While I was gone, Heather checked us out of the hotel. She took her eyes off of our fresh poured coffee. The lady in charge of the kitchen grabbed them like they were abandoned and chunked them into the trash. Heather hushed me outside and explained what happened. Nonetheless, I didn’t get coffee today. Yikes!😳 I really needed my cup of joe… just saying.

We started our drive about 9:30 a.m. First stop The Giant Goose in WaWa Canada. Next stop, you guessed it Tim Horton’s. Heather got pepperoni pizza and her coffee. My choice was The bacon turkey club and a Diet Coke cause it was after 1p.m. no coffee for me. With our bellies full Heather took over the driving and I had time to chill and a brief nap or two. I didn’t sleep well after yesterday’s occurrence. Go figure.

Next stop White River to take pictures of Pooh! Not that poo 💩 but Winnie the Pooh! There’s a museum there. Oops it’s Sunday and the Pooh building was closed.

Had to make a stop for petrol ⛽️ in Terrace Bay.

A short drive and we were at Aguasabon Falls and Gorge. A chance at stretching our legs, breathe some cool fresh air, and climb some more stairs. It was a beautiful walk and again the roaring sounds of a magnificent waterfall.

Heather and I found a picnic spot and we were able to touch the water of Lake Superior. It was cold, cold, cold!

Lake Superior

Some more driving, probably another few hundred miles we made it to Thunder Bay! We called ahead to an awaiting Applebees for our pickup dinner order via curbside. Three blocks or a couple thousand miles we arrived at our hotel. Nice big room for one night then another long drive day tomorrow after a couple of quick stops in Thunder Bay.

We got to FaceTime Rhyder, Misty and Scotty. Talked with Mom and Dad checking in with the Amarillo peeps! It sounds like we are truly missed. Well at least Heather is! lol

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Joyce Kilmer- “Trees”

He was an American poet killed in action by a German sniper during World War I on July 30, 1918. This poem Trees is his most famous and was published in 1913 and in his own works in 1914.

Strutting like they own it!

Lastly, never try to give a theological lecture to a Canada Goose for they’re already experts at hissing at sinners… just saying!
