Today is the official first day that snow tires are required in the mountains of Canada. We squeezed by without being caught, and temperatures in the 40’s with no snow on the roads! We are now in our suite here in Northern Vancouver! The last 80 miles were the hardest. The slow traffic getting into the city with two lanes, then it added another HOV lane for Heather and I which picked up the pace. Traffic here is just as bad as driving in Houston except the traffic flows way, way slower and no flashing of handguns!

We departed early from our Villa to gas up and get our caffeine fix for the long drive day.

Heather got really excited to see this male bighorn Sheep. I was glad he didn’t jump into the road. I was watching several other bighorns on my side just chillin’.

We made a nice mile or two walk and visited a small waterfall near the Railroad Tunnels. Very scenic and a great stretch of the legs.

As soon as we got back to the car our cell service quit working. So in the middle of the deep mountainous terrain we were lost again. So I thought I could just back track on how we got to the Tunnels. Wrong decision again! Poor Heather was trying to get signal as I powered through. Turn here, we passed this, I remembered those rocks, trying to justify my actions. Well, after discussing internally with the devil 😈 on one shoulder and the angel 😇 of reason on the other. Heather brought me back to reality. I was indeed going the wrong way. We drove for 10 long miles looking for a turn around. I found one and had a trail of Canadian drivers right behind me. I slowed and stopped on the almost shoulder of the highway. Mind you, Canada hasn’t gotten the shoulder concept yet. I almost missing my opportunity as all the traffic behind me stopped and wouldn’t go around. Well after me waving my arm frantically to go around, I heard a lightbulb finally go on and as they all passed, I saw more birds flying than the whole time I had been driving since leaving home. Albeit, just deserved, then I made my turn. It was a silent thousand miles getting back on track. We stopped at McDonalds for lunch and all was well. (Note to self- when giving you the bird, Canadians don’t look at you, so returning the “avian”is useless) Duly noted!

We stopped at a Walmart to get a little battery for our luggage scale. We got some chocolate bars just because. Dinner was via Uber Eats who delivered Peaked Pies to us. They were like big pot pies. I had a chicken, mushroom, broccoli pie. Heather’s was a ground beef and cheese pie. Of course we got a mixed berry and an apple crumb. I wasn’t impressed. Guess I like the Marie Callander’s the best.

We have the car for one more day. Gonna turn it in after we do stuff!
Hope everything dries out at home. Glad to see the rain but not so much at once. To our family, friends, and followers leave us a like or comment. Our journey is in its final two weeks. Look out Yellowstone National Park! The two Texans are coming… we hope we don’t get lost along the way.
