Early to bed and early to rise makes Heather and I tired with drooping eyes! The besties met for breakfast, and I tagged along. These two chatted until it was time to reluctantly part. There were a few tears as expected.

After a short 1.5-hour drive, we arrived at Camp #2, nestled on 40 acres in the beautiful state of Kentucky. Camp Kum-Ba-Ya!

As we pulled up from the gate, we were warmly greeted by the camp manager, Becca T. Her friendly and welcoming demeanor immediately put us at ease. She shared fascinating insights into the camp’s history and the ongoing improvements that are being made. Becca and her husband, along with their family, are devoted Disciples who embody the love and vision of our faith. They are committed to transforming this camp into a fun, educational, and spiritually enriching experience for all who visit. Becca also mentioned a unique retreat she organizes twice a month for veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

This camp features a charming rustic collection of A-frame cabins, some of which are primitive. There are also several newer bunkhouses equipped with air conditioning. The camp is divided into separate male and female sides, and there are nice bath buildings with large showers.

Heather and I had a guided tour via a ride in the camps side by side, which allowed us to explore without the extra effort. The weather was warm with cloud cover, making the heat bearable. Becca drove us to their Vespers, which was truly a special place. It had a cross with a chalice, and they had plans identical to LBCR, including canoe and kayak storage. The dock was long with boat anchoring. We were informed that on July 3rd each year, is during their senior camp, they cookout with hotdogs and a canoe full of iced drinks. Boats from all over the lake would anchor for a spectacular fireworks show provided by the resort from across the bay while campers line the beach to watch.

After our tour, we bid our goodbyes and expressed our sincere gratitude for her time and hospitality. The two Texans (one of whom was missing a Texessian) continued their journey to Bowling Green, stopping at a McDonald’s for lunch. We have a comfortable and spacious room at the Drury Inn, where we will be staying for two nights. Exhausted but excited, we eagerly anticipate the wonderful experiences that await us tomorrow.

We express our gratitude for the safe travels and the friends we cherish. We appreciate your prayers and support. We eagerly anticipate the friendships we will forge on this journey.
