As we found our spot to meet for the comedy bus tour, I struck up a conversation with the security guard working at this bustling collection of restaurants. His name is Jessie, and he works this job only once a week. He mentioned that it’s just a way to supplement his income. He also shared some insights into his family life, mentioning that his son believes his dad goes on vacation way too much.
Jessie, a minister who’s on the advisory board for his denomination and travels locally to three different locations as a shared ministry. He has traveled to the Pentecostal Church of the Holy Spirit in Amarillo and has been there numerous times. When we discussed Heather’s travels, he was aware of the demands of ministry and the stresses it places on one’s family. He mentioned that he tries to take his family along whenever possible, and they find activities to keep themselves occupied while he works. I shared that I also find things to do, so that my wife can keep me in pretty things! He laughed.

I talked about Heather and my visit to the Golden Corral last night. He mentioned that the city has three locations, and he agreed that the one we visited was the best. He suggested several other places we should try, but I’ve forgotten all of them. I did tell him to avoid the Golden Corral when he comes to Amarillo. He wished us well and for safe travels, and he suggested that we stop by and meet his fellow ministers when we too visit Amarillo. lol
Clergy Joke: A church needed to repair its roof. The minister announced, “I have good news and bad news. The good news is we have enough money to fix it. The bad news is it is still currently in your pockets.”
