We went to bed early again because we had to drive back from the concert. We needed to get gas and battle the fog. The fog in the hills and turns, combined with the native wildlife, made for a nightmare. The deer in this part of New York State are enormous! We managed to make it by the Grace of God. Heather’s quick actions in figuring out how to use the car’s defroster/defogger saved the day. So, we went to bed early around 2 a.m. lol

Heather found us a breakfast stop in Sherman New York. We walked into the restaurant and it was the bakery side. We sat down at a table and Heather said that I was going to love it here. Our waitress came over and was dressed in traditional Amish clothing and took our order. The cook also dressed in Amish clothing was an older woman who repeated back all food orders given to her. Was kind of funny. Not quite Yoders but very good.

We ate a wonderful breakfast then stopped at the bakery for six cookies. Heather purchased a new table runner for our home that is absolutely beautiful. Two of the six cookies didn’t make it to the town’s limits. Don’t judge me! You know you would have done the same!

After indulging in a hearty meal, the two Texans embarked on their journey to Niagara Falls, specifically the American side. We arrived at Parking Lot 1 and paid the parking fee. It seems they’ve found a way to extract every last penny from their visitors. They boast about clearing the old Niagara Falls of shady characters and carnival performers, only to replace them with new methods of exploiting the working class. They showed us a movie about the shysters and corruption built around the old Niagara Falls.

We got a nice soaking at The Cave of the Winds. We believe the Canadian side is more organized and has a few more experiences but the American side is building more stuff and gets you closer to the water.

Both sides are tourists traps. The beauty in the falls is masked by to many tourists. Been there done that. We will only join the crowds there again with the Grand kids.

Heather and I walked over to the Seneca Hotel and Casino and signed up for some freebies. We had a fantastic free buffet with prime rib. I had unlimited shrimp! The sweet potato pie was absolutely delicious. There are some incredible statues at the entrance. Tonight, we’re going to bed early, around evening time. Heather has to catch up on the receipts and I will figure out our driving strategy for the next few days. Tomorrow is definitely a long drive day just over 6 hours from here to Albany New York.

I’ll leave you to contemplate this statement: Yesterday, I mentioned to my wife that she was drawing her eyebrows too high. She looked surprised! 😳
