There’s no place like home… sometimes Heather and I forget the familiar comforts of our sheets, pillows, and bed. We like traveling and exploring with the few items from home. For me, it’s my squishy pillow and the boys’ favorite toys. Heather travels with the gamut of things, trying to prepare for every situation. Sometimes it’s a bandage or cough drops. Sometimes it’s her tablet and a pillow. We are glad to be home. Our gas meter was replaced, and we had to wait for the gas company to come and turn it on. Yippee! A hot shower tonight with the big bottles of shampoo and conditioner.
Steadily washing clothes, separating what is going back into the suitcases for our even longer travels. The change of seasons and weather is going to be a challenge. We plan to take what we think we need, and as fall approaches, we will ship home our summer clothes and pair down before we cruise from Boston in September. Our medicines will be a challenge as to schedule pickup along our routes. Luckily, Heather and I have the same wonderful doctor who can telemedicine with us.
We have to carry a yellow card from our insurance company for proof of coverage while driving through Canada. AT&T says we will have service throughout Canada with their partner companies, Bell Telephone Companies. (Remembering Southwestern Bell and all the different regions.)
Going through our stack of mail, sorting, and paying bills. Most are on auto-pay with the occasional medical bill snuck in.
Amarillo has been hot, hot, and too hot! The crackling of my once beautiful grass beneath my feet as I retrieve my bounty from my poor, burnt garden. No bell peppers, no beefsteak tomatoes, no okra, just a lot of droopy leaves. On the positive side, I still have sweet potatoes growing in abundance. My cucumbers were few, and the squirrels like my cherry tomatoes. I picked 2 red ones from the vine and harvested 4 cucumbers.

Luckily for Scotty he will not have to mow my crusty lawn until it recovers from this intense heat. Such a refreshing day at home. Like the character Sheldon on ‘The Big Bang Theory’ I too have my spot. That special recliner with my butt print and can honestly say that we missed each other.
Heather was busy folding and sorting through the tonnage of items to distribute when the occasions are right for their dispersal. We shared our chores with the exception of removing the battery tender on Ruby. That’s what she named her new car after I totaled her other car Violet back in February.
Not much else to share today, so wishing everyone a great and happy day.
