Wow! America the Beautiful! We drove out of Vermont, winding up and down the roads, enjoying some of the most breathtaking views. On Sunday morning, Vermont’s State Troopers were out in force, working like a small army of speed enforcement teams. These Texans have never seen anything like it. Each direction of travel was covered by the mile. You would think that no one would even attempt to exceed the speed limit, but evidently, the word hasn’t gotten out or they simply enjoy the flashing lights of pure blue in their rearview mirrors.

Next, we headed to Brattleboro, Vermont, for breakfast at a pizza shop. Then, we drove to New Hampshire, where we found ourselves in small towns with the same amazing houses and the same flat-brimmed State Troopers hats writing tickets for the blue light lovers. We continued our journey into the state of Massachusetts, driving across the state and stopping briefly at a CVS store to gather information on how to proceed through Connecticut and into Rhode Island. We are currently staying the night at Bally’s in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

We continued our search for bears, as everyone was talking about them. With all our luggage, we finally made it to our room and began rearranging our belongings to determine what we needed to send home. I jokingly referred to it as downsizing the half ton. Our room is clean, spacious, and offers a beautiful view of a pond. We considered going to the pool, but unfortunately, time slipped away from us once again.

Dinner was Asian cuisine, and it tasted just like the meal we had in Chinatown, San Francisco. It was truly delicious!

In summary, Heather says Today was a good day! I think 5 states and we made it safely is a great day! Definitely learning new driving skills and hearing the harsh accents of the indigenous peoples as they speak, gesture, and honk for my slow pace of driving has annoyed many of them. I can say I am not getting a ticket because they are in a hurry. I don’t like blue lights in my rear view.
