We woke early today being congested from our ever changing environment. The sun was no longer my nemesis and waited longer to make its appearance. The Ruby Princess docked early and the sign outside reminded us we were back in San Francisco.

Our last breakfast on the ship was pretty good. I put fresh pears in my oatmeal! Yum! Heather had oatmeal missing pears. It was a clean getaway from our 10 day commitment with the view of Alcatraz in the background as we made our escape.

Our Uber driver was rushed off and missed our scheduled time because the ship released us 5 minutes late. Port police made our driver go on and we were charged by Uber anyway. Heather reschedule our pickup and our original driver came back and was apologetic and had reported the incident to Uber. He was very friendly and helpful with our questions about the city. We made it to our hotel named Boutique Hotel which is nicely updated. Our room wasn’t ready so they stored our bags and away we went into this great city.

We found a Walgreens of course up hill, lol and got us some decongestant and cough drops. We picked up a couple of boxes of HotTamales and one box of Milk Duds. Then off to China Town babies, only a few blocks down then up and down and back. Our calf muscles were definitely being challenged. I was excited to visit the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie! Free samples yum, yum, and yum! The line was long but moved efficiently. Once inside the selection of fortune cookies and flavors were overwhelming. Two women (as the sign reads: beautiful ladies folding fortunes) worked incredibly fast producing custom products. We then Googled a nice lunch spot named the Clay Pot and we were not disappointed.

We rode the streetcars all over then went to check into our hotel. We took a short break resting the footsies…. and encouraging our grandson to take some major footsteps and HE DID! Then got a Lyft ride to our night at Alcatraz. More extreme uphill/downhill wear and tear on our exhausted bodies. But was a tourist attraction of another National Park in desperate need of cleaning (dust bunnies the size of Lubbock) and in need of repair along with extensive wildlife control. The birds were out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie and their butt droppings everywhere. We ended the night by walking several blocks to again ride the rails of this great city all the way to get food.
